Changes To Local Government Tipped

February 9th, 2009

Agriculture Minister, David Carter, says farmers should look for changes in behaviour of their local govt agencies, especially in the handling of resource consents, a particular bugbear for farmers slugged with roading, water and even town amenity costs through levies and rates. Carter says farmers should expect to see a drop-off in opposition to their consents from “people with ideological environmental agendas” and local bodies “much more focused” on processing applications.
